Shujin Lan-Shuster

Shujin Lan-Shuster integrates her unique experience and resources in the fields of transnational entertainment investment, acquisition and content creation into Mixel. It has a huge advantage that is rare in the industry to build a new global entertainment force.

Shujin has worked in film development, production, acquisition and IP management for 13 years. Most recently, she served in the senior executive role at Alibaba Pictures focusing on international productions and acquisition of English language content for global market with China focus. In addition, as the first employee at Alibaba Pictures International, she helped shape the company and built the team to run strategies for international business, including co-financing Studio tentpole films, corporate investment, build development/production pipeline and content acquisition for China distribution. Manage all government relationships in China to secure quota slots and distribution for import titles such as Green Book, A Dog’s Purpose, A Dog’s Journey, BFG, etc. 

Prior to Alibaba, Shujin served as US Chief Representative at China Film Group to develop co-productions and manage strategic partnerships. She acted on behalf of China Film Group and subsidiaries to handle business negotiations and strategic deals, including Cameron Pace Group, The Third Floor, D-Box, HydroFlex underwater photography equipment, New Deal Studios, and Lidar VFX.

After resigning from Alibaba Pictures, Shujin has been mentoring young filmmakers to advise on their careers and speak on panels to share experience and expertise with industry colleagues, including the 2020 Harvard Business School Entertainment and Media Conference to speak about “Globalization of Entertainment”.
